  • The newly formed BJP government of B. S. Yediyurappa in Karnataka canceled the annually Birth anniversary celebrations of Tipu Sultan Jayanti.
  • In an announcement, the department of Kannada and Culture of Karnataka state stated that Hazrat Tipu Sultan Jayanti, which was being celebrated since 2016 under the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, has been canceled “with immediate effect”.
