SpiceJet Successfully Tests India's 1st Biofuel powered flight from Dehradun to Delhi

  • A historic flight powered by indigenously produced aviation biofuel based on the patented technology of CSIR-IIP Dehradun. The flight test was successfully completed by SpiceJet from Dehradun airport to Delhi airport.
  • It aims to detract the costs of air travel by replacing the costly ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel).
  • The use of Biofuel, apart from reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 15%, and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) emissions by over 99%.
  • As compared to Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), Biofuel minify the carbon emissions and increase the fuel efficiency.
