After Lok Sabha election 2019, the first decision of PM Modi Government: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved major changes in the Prime Minister's Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) under the National Defence Fund.
He increases the rates of scholarship from Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 per month for boys, and Rs 2250 to Rs 3000 per month for girls.
This Scholarship Scheme will also cover the wards of State Police Officers who are/were martyred during Terror or Naxal attacks.
The quota for new scholarships forwards to the state police officers will be five hundred in a year. The Ministry of Home Affairs will be the nodal Ministry in this regard.
Under National Defence Fund (NDF), every year new scholarships are given for:-
Rs 5,500/- for Wards of Armed Forces, and it will be controlled by Ministry of Defence
Rs 2,000/- for Wards of ParaMilitary Forces, and it will be controlled by Ministry of Home Affairs
Rs 150/- for Wards of Forces, and it will be controlled by Indian Railways.
