How to Join National Defence Academy – NDA Exam Pattern, Syllabus

The UPSC NDA NA Examination held in April and September month conducted by Union Public Service Commission. UPSC release the NDA NA Exam notification in January and June month two time a year, for the recruitment of Unmarried Male candidates only for following Courses in different Defence Academies such as-

  • National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune (Maharashtra),
  • Naval Academy, Ezhimala (Kerala).
1. UPSC National Defence Services Examination Schedule

a) UPSC NDA Exam Notification
- UPSC NDA I January Month
- UPSC NDA II June Month

b) UPSC NDA Written Exam Notification
- UPSC NDA I April Month
- UPSC NDA II September Month

2. UPSC NDA Exam and Conditions of Eligibility

Nationality: A candidate must either be :
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a Tibetan refugee; who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

    • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
    • Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

4. NDA Examination - Physical Measurement + Medical Standards

Candidates must be physically and mentally fit according to physical standards for admission to NDA and NA Examination as per guidelines are given below:-

i. For Indian Army/ Indian Air Force Posts :

5. NDA Syllabus / Exam Pattern and Detailed NDA Exam Instructions
Course Name Exam Time Subject and Exam Marks
For NDA, NA Academy 2 Hours For Each Subject 1. Mathematics
2. General Knowledge (Objective Type Questions)
Total Marks: 900 (300 Marks for Mathematics and 600 Marks for GK Test)

 

  • All the candidates who have successfully qualified in the written exam are required to register themselves online on the Indian Army Recruiting website https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/index.htm within two weeks of the announcement of written result.
  • The successful candidates would then be allotted Selection Centers and dates of SSB interview which shall be communicated to the registered email ID.
  • Any candidate who has already registered earlier on the site will not be required to do so
