1. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that the family of a paramilitary jawan who dies in action will be given a minimum compensation of one crore rupees. He presented gallantry awards to BSF jawans and officers.
2. Commonwealth gold medal winning table tennis star Manika Batra and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu have signed multi-year agreements with sports management firm IOS. It will now manage their endorsements, appearances, brand profiling, patents, licensing and digital rights, images, and visibility on social networking sites.
3. The 71st World Health Assembly was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Indian Delegation was led by Union Health Minister of India, Mr J P Nadda at World Health Assembly. The Event was held under the theme "Health for All: Commit To Universal Health Coverage".
4. Coimbatore racer Bala Prasath has won the Formula Junior Racing Series 2018 Championship in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
5. Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi presented the prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskar 2017 to the members of the INSV Tarini team in New Delhi. The Six-member all-women team led by Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi have received the Puraskar from the Minister.
6.Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar launched 'Samagra Shiksha scheme' for school education. The scheme focuses on improving quality of education, enhancing the Learning outcomes and using technology to empower children and teachers.
7. State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) appointed Pravin L. Agrawal as a part-time official director on its board. An Indian Forest Service officer, Agrawal is presently joint secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI), Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
8. Polish author Olga Tokarczuk won the Man Booker International Prize for her novel ‘Flights’. The novel, translated by Jennifer Croft, interweaves narratives of travel with explorations of the human body. It bagged the 67,000 US dollar prize after topping a shortlist of six titles, with Tokarczuk becoming the first Polish writer to win the award.
9. The Fifteenth Finance Commission on May 24, 2018 constituted a High Level Group consisting of eminent experts from across the country in Health Sector to examine the strengths and weaknesses for enabling balanced expansion of Health Sector. The Committee will be convened by Dr. RandeepGuleria, Director of AIIMS.
10. The University Grants Commission (UGC) on May 24, 2018 approved new regulations for online courses by universities. The commission decided that the higher educational institutions and universities will be able to offer graduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes online from the upcoming academic session.
11. The Indian Navy on May 25, 2018 commissioned the IN LCU L54, the fourth ship of Landing Craft Utility MK-IV, into its fleet at Port Blair. The ship was commissioned by Vice Admiral GS Pabby, AVSM, VSM and Chief of Materiel. The Commissioning of L-54 is in line with the Union Government’s Make in India initiative.
12. NITI Aayog and ABB India have signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to support the Indian government realise its vision of ‘Make in India’ through advanced manufacturing technologies that incorporate the latest developments in robotics and artificial intelligence.
