WB Police Vacancies 2020: WB Police released online notification to fill up 139 posts of Technical Staff in different ranks in West Bengal Police for operating Fast Interceptor Boats/ Flat Bottom Vessels/ Water Scooter (Jet Ski) of Coastal Police Stations under Coastal Security Scheme (Phase - I/ II). Male candidates retired from Indian Navy/ Indian Coast Guard/ BSF Water Wing/ Indo Tibetan Border Police (Water Wing) are only eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification
  1. For Sub-Inspector (Crew Comprising Master):- The candidates must have served as a Chief Petty Officer/ Petty Officer in the Navy, Seaman Branch only (Navigation, Communication, Gunnery, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Clearance Driver and Survey Recorders).
    OR
    As an Adhikari/ Pradhan Navik in Coast Guard, GD Branch only.
    OR
    Minimum 2 years as a Sub-Inspector in Border Security Force (Water Wing)/ Indo-Tibetan Border Police (Water Wing).
  2. For Assistant Sub-Inspector (Crew Engine Driver):- The candidates must have served as a Petty Officer in Navy, Seaman Branch only (Navigation, Communication, Gunnery, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Clearance Driver and Survey Recorders).
    OR
    Artificer III/IV, Mechanic III/IV, Mechanic (Power/ Radio), Petty Officer Electrical (Power/Radio) in Navy Technical Branch (Non-aviation sailor only).
    OR
    As a Pradhan Navik in Coast Guard, GD Branch only Or Minimum 3 years as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Border Security Force (Water Wing)/Indo-Tibetan Border Police (Water Wing).
  3. For Constable (Crew):- The candidates must have served as a Leading Seaman/Seaman-I/ Seaman-II in Navy equivalent all branches.
    OR
    As Uttam Navik/ Navik in Coast Guard in GD/ Technical Branch only.
    OR
    Minimum 3 years as a Constable in Border Security Force (Water Wing)/ Indo-Tibetan Border Police (Water Wing).
Fee's Details (non-refundable)
The following Application and/or Processing fees have been fixed (mentioned-below).
  1. Applicants desirous of applying for each of the posts must apply separately for each paying the requisite application/ and or processing fees.
  2. Applicants belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (of West Bengal only) shall pay processing fees of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty Five) only as they are exempted from paying any application fees. However, shortlisted candidates are required to produce their SC/ST certificates issued by the competent authority at the time of verification.
  3. If any shortlisted candidate fails to submit the documents as stated above, his candidature shall be rejected summarily.
  4. No exemption of fees is available to the SC/ST candidates of OTHER States.
  5. Neither any claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be reassigned for any other examination under any circumstances whatsoever.
  6. Applications not accompanied with the requisite application and/or processing fees shall be rejected summarily.

Selection Procedure
Recruitment will be made on the basis of Written Examination (75 marks) followed by Interview (25 marks) to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
A. Written Examination (Full Marks - 75):
  1. An OMR based (MCQ Pattern) Written Examination of 1 (one) hour duration will be held as per the following syllabus. The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board shall have the discretion to fix cut-off marks for shortlisting candidates for interview in respect of each social category and posts taking into account the number of vacancies proposed to be filled up in each category and post.
  2. The Written Examination will be held one after another on the same day.
  3. There shall be NEGATIVE marking for each wrong answer or multiple answers for a question in the Written Examination. ¼th of the allotted marks for a particular question shall be deducted for each wrong or multiple answers.

B. Interview:- 25 Marks.
  1. A limited number of candidates will be called for Interview in accordance with merit. In the Interview, the general awareness and suitability of the candidate for the post will be tested.
  2. On the basis of the marks obtained in the Written Examination and the Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
  3. The Board shall have the discretion to fix qualifying marks for each social category on the aggregate marks obtained in written examination and interview for preparing the provisional merit list.

Applicants are advised to follow the procedure properly for applying through online mode from 24th March to 24th April 2020.
