India's first Wrestler to Qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020


  • Vinesh Phogat (age 25 years) becomes India's first female Wrestler to Qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She defeated American wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt in the World Championships at Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan.
  • Haryana born Vinesh Phogat scored an impressive 8-2 win over the American wrestler to secure her place at the Tokyo Games.
  • Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to win the Gold medal in both Commonwealth and Asian Games.
  • Vinesh is the daughter of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat younger brother Rajpal and the cousin of wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari.
