- Supreme Court lawyer Ram Boolchand Jethmalani died in New Delhi at his home. He was 95-years. Mr. Jethmalani served as Union minister of law and justice in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet.
- Ram Boolchand Jethmalani was elected as a member of the 6th and 7th Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket, from the Mumbai northwest constituency.
- He also served as the Chairman of Indian Bar Council, and as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
- In 1977, he was awarded a Human Rights Award by World Peace Through Law. He has authored several books such as- Big Egos, Small Men, Conscience of a Maverick, and Maverick: Unchanged, etc.
