- Happy Engineer’s Day will be observed on 15th September every year across the country, as a tribute to Bharat Ratna, Shri M. Visvesvaraya, on his birth anniversary.
- Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya (born on 15th September 1861 to 12th April 1962) was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman, and the 19th Diwan of Mysore, who served from 1912 to 1919.
- In 1955, Sir M.V. received India's highest honor, the Bharat Ratna.
