- Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar has resigned from his post.
- In a statement posted on his Twitter handle, Mr. Akbar said, since he has decided to seek justice in the court of law in his personal capacity, he deems it appropriate to step down from office and challenge false accusations levied against him.
- The resignation comes in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment against him.
- Mr. Akbar has already filed a criminal defamation case in this regard.
- Mr. Akbar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.
