- The UAE's Supreme Council of the Union has re-elected Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (age 71 years) as its 4th President of the United Arab Emirates for a period of five-year.
- He became president on 3rd November 2004, following the death of his father, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
