- In an official statement, the UN said that Spain will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties (COP25) after Chile's withdrawal.
- The COP25 climate change summit will be held from 2nd to 13th December 2019 at Madrid, Spain.
- Sebastian Pinera (President of Chilean) said he is not ready to host either the COP25 climate summit as well as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit due to deadly anti-government protests in Santiago.
