- Every year on 17th May World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is celebrated throughout the globe. Its objective is to raise awareness information and communication technologies (ICT) bringing changes to societies and economies.
- The theme for the 2020 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day is "Connect 2030: ICTs for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".
- This day was proclaimed by the International Telecommunication Union Plenipotentiary Conference in Antalya, Turkey in November 2006.
