Indian Army Lt. General Shailesh Tinakiar Appointed as New UNMISS Force Commander


  • UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres (age 70 years) announces the appointment of Lt. General of Indian Army Shailesh Tinakiar appointed as New UNMISS Force Commander.
  • Tinaikar succeeds Lt. General Frank Kamanzi (age 55 years) from Uganda who will complete his assignment on 26th May 2019.
  • Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar graduated from Indian Military Academy (IMA) in 1983 and Currently he is the Commandant of The Infantry School (July 2018).
  • He has been awarded the Sena Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM).
