BJP wins the 2019 Lok Sabha Election with an absolute majority


a) 2019 Lok Sabha Election Results: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has surpassed its previous record of 282 Lok Sabha seats (2014), winning 302 constituencies and leading in one in the 543 member house. Elections were held in 542 constituencies.
b) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led NDA set to form a new government at Center for a 2nd term with an absolute majority. The BJP clinch 350 seats as against their previous tally of 336.

  • The UPA gets 90 seats.
  • The DMK gets 23 seats.
  • Trinamool Congress and YSR Congress gets 22 each.
  • The Shiv Sena gets 18 seats
  • Janata Dal (United) gets 16 seats.

c) PM Modi (age 68 years) has won from Varanasi (UP) by 4.79 lakh votes while BJP President Amit Shah (age 54 years) has won from Gandhinagar (Gujarat) by 5.57 lakh votes.
d) Sonia Gandhi retained Rai Bareilly seat while Congress President Rahul Gandhi lost Amethi by a margin of 55 thousand votes.
