- Renowned economist Baidyanath Mishra died at age 99 at his residence in Saheed Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
- He was started his career as a lecturer in Ravenshaw University in Cuttack and later worked at Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) as Agriculture Economics Professor.
- Baidyanath Mishra was Vice-Chancellor of OUAT from 1981 to 1985, and Chairman of the State Planning Board from 1985 to 1990.
