- The International or World Thalassaemia Day is observed on 8th May every year around the world, Its aim to increase the awareness about this disease among common public all through the world.
- The theme for this years is "Universal access to quality thalassemia healthcare services: Building bridges with and for the patient".
- Much like other years, Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) will organize 3 online competitions across the globe with regard to a certain theme.
- The competition will include a video challenge, a photo contest, and a story competition. This event will showcase the solidarity with the patient suffering from the disease.
