1. BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired from a mobile launcher from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Balasore (Chandipur), Odisha to validate some new features aimed at increasing its life from 10 to 15 years.

2. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held his first informal Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 21. During the high-level delegation meet, the two leaders agreed that the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.

6. On May 21st, 2018 State-run EESL (Energy Efficiency Service Limited) has announced that it has distributed over 30 crores LED bulbs across the country under government's Ujala Scheme. The distribution of LED bulbs has helped in saving energy of over 38,952 kWh annually amounting to Rs. 15,581 crore.

7. The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a penalty of Rs. 50,000/- on Universal Co-operative Urban Bank, Mancherial, Telangana. The penalty has been imposed on the bank as it had violated RBI’s directive and guidelines on loans and advances to directors and their relatives.

8. The International Bio-diversity Day is observed every year on 22 May to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The theme this year is ‘Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity’.

9. India received the first consignment of 2 million barrels of crude oil from United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) at Mangaluru (on west coast), Karnataka.

10. India's Shivangi Pathak become youngest women of the country to scale Mt Everest from Nepal side. According to the Managing Director of Seven Summit Treks, Mingma Sherpa, 16-year-old Shivangi successfully stood atop world’s highest mountain. Born in Hisar of Haryana.
