  • Noted Former Indian footballer Pradip Kumar Banerjee passed away on 20th March due to chest infection in Kolkata, West Bengal. He was 83.
  • During his football career, He represented India in three Asian Games- 1958 Tokyo Asian Games, 1962 Jakarta Asian Games (where he had won Gold medal for India), 1966 Bangkok Asian Games.
  • List of Awards He was Received:
    - Silver medal in Merdeka Tournament held in 1959, 1964.
    - In 2011, Lifetime Achievement Award by Bharat Nirman.
    - In 1990, Padma Shri.
    - In 1961, Arjuna Award.
    - In 2004, FIFA Order of Merit (Centennial).
