World Sparrow Day celebrated on 20th March Every year


  • Each year on 20th March World Sparrow Day is celebrated across the globe. The main reason for celebrates this day due to the tremendous decrease in the House Sparrow population.
  • The above initiative was started by the Nature Forever Society (NFS) of India, which was founded by Mohammed Dilawar in 2009.
  • House Sparrow,
    The House Sparrow is a bird of the sparrow family Passeridae, found in most parts of the world. It is a small bird that has a typical length of 16 cm (6.3 in) and a mass of 24–39.5 g.
  • Mohammed Dilawar,
    He is an Indian conservationist who started his work helping the House Sparrow in Nashik. Besides, he was named one of the 'Heroes of the Environment' for the year 2008 by Time (magazine) for his efforts.
  • Reasons How to Decrease in the population of House Sparrow,
    - Due to the extreme use of pesticides.
    - Due to Gardens missing from the houses.
    - Due to Mobile and TV towers Radiation.
