Nupur Kulshrestha becomes first Woman DIG of Indian Coast Guard


  • Nupur Kulshrestha becomes the first woman to be promoted as DIG of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). She had joined the Indian Coast Guard services in 1999.
  • Indian Coast Guard,
    - It is a premier Indian armed force that protects India's maritime interests and enforces maritime law.
    - It was formed on 18th August 1978, HQ at New Delhi. It comes under the control of the Ministry of Defence.
    - Till now, it has 15,714 active personnel.
    - DG of Indian Coast Guard is Krishnaswamy Natarajan.
