  • On the occasion of International Women's Day, the 14th President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind honored the 15-Women's with prestigious Nari Shakti Puraskar 2019 at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.
  • List of 2019 Nari Shakti Puraskar awardees;
    1. 104-year-old athlete Man Kaur.
    2. Mohana Singh Jitarwal, Bhawana Kanth, and Avani Chaturvedi (first women fighter pilots).
    3. Padala Bhudevi & Bina Devi (Farmers).
    4. Arifa Jaan.
    5. Chami Murmu.
    6. Nilza Wangmo,
    7. Rashmi Urdhwardeshe,
    8. Kalavati Devi,
    9. Tashi & Nungshi Malik (Mountaineers).
    10. Kaushiki Chakroborty & Karthyayini Amma.
    11. 105-year-old Bhageerathi Amma.
  • About Nari Shakti Puraskar,
    The award was instituted by the Government of India under the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 1999.
    And, this award is given in 6-institutional categories and 2-individual categories.
    - The awardees get a Rs 1,00,000 cash prize and a citation.
  • Key Features,
    - It is India's highest civilian award for recognizing the achievements and contributions of women.
    - And, these awards are given by India President on 8th March, International Women's Day every year at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
    - The first Nari Shakti Puraskar was given to Madurai Chinna Pillai in 1999, for her efforts towards initiating and spreading the microcredit movement. And for changing the lives of women living in poverty.
    - Prime Minister at the time late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee had presented the award and bowed down in respect and touched her feet.
