  • Today, Janaushadhi Diwas observed on 7th March across the country. On the occasion, PM Shri Narendra Modi has address 5,000 Janaushadhi stores via video-conferencing. In India, Around 5,050 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Kendras (PMBJP) are functional in 652 districts.
  • About Janaushadhi Kendras,
    - It providing quality medicine at an affordable price.
    - All of the medicines including therapeutic are made available.
    - The working hours of Janaushadhi Kendras (JAS) are from 08:00 to 08:00 P.M.
  • Who can Apply for Janaushadhi Kendra,
    - It can be opened by State Governments or any Organization/ Reputed NGOs/ Trusts/ Private hospitals/ Unemployed Pharmacists, etc are eligible to apply.
    - The applicants shall have to B.Pharma/ D.Pharma degree holders as Pharmacists in their proposed store.
  • Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana Kendra (PMBJP),
    - It is launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India.
    - It provides Quality Medicines at an economic price through Special Kendras known as Janaushadhi Kendra (JAS).
    - It has been launched in 2014 by PM Modi for the noble cause - Quality Medicines at Affordable Prices for All.
