- Former Indian hockey player Balbir Singh Kullar passed away at the age of 77 at his home in Sansarpur.
- He was a member of the Indian hockey team that won the Asian Games Gold in Bangkok (1966) and the Olympic Bronze in Mexico (1968).
- He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2009 and Arjuna Award in 1999.
