Russian Cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky dies at 84


  • Current Affairs 30-31st March 2019. The first Russian cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky has died at age 84.
  • He was the 11th person to venture into space and who held the unbroken record for the longest solo spaceflight.
  • He was one of 20 Soviet military pilots in the first group picked to prepare for space.
  • Bykovsky made his second space flight in 1976 and his third in 1978. He spent nearly 21 days in orbit in all.
