India has overtaken Germany to become the fourth largest automotive market in the world, according to the latest global data. Sales of cars, including passenger and commercial vehicles, in the third largest economy of Asia, increased by 9.5%. This is the fastest among the world's major markets, last year more than 4 million units, ahead of the 3.7 million car sales in Germany, which during the same period grew by a modest 2.8%.
