The oldest city in the world Varanasi Goes Wireless


Eighty-six years after the city received electricity, the air-line cables in the oldest town of Varanasi are being dismantled after the completion of the project on laying underground lines for 16 Km square meters. Cable laying for 50,000 consumers through serpentine bands and congested markets in one of the oldest cities in the world was quite a challenge for PowerGrid, which is implementing an integrated energy development (IPDS) project.
