Indian Hockey team announced for Commonwealth Games, Sardar Singh 'Out'


Hockey India has announced the 18-member team for Commonwealth Games on today. Veteran Sardar Singh has been dropped out of the team. In the captaincy of Sardar Singh last year, the Indian team could not reach the title of the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament and it had to be content with fifth place.

The 21st Commonwealth Games will be held in Australia's Gold Coast between April 4 and 15. The Indian team has been placed in Pool-B with Pakistan, Malaysia, Wales and England. In the captaincy of Manpreet Singh, the Indian team will start their campaign against the match against Pakistan on 7 April. India has been the runner-up in the last two Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014). So far, India has not got the gold medal in this prestigious event.
