In Karnataka State, the World's Largest Solar Park "Power Station" Launched

The government of Karnataka opened the first phase of a solar park in 2000 megawatts (MW) in the arid region of Tumkur. The first stage of the Crore Rs 16 500 park under the name "Shakti Sthala" will generate 600 MW, and it is expected that by the end of 2018 a balance of 1,400 MW will be put into operation. The solar project is the largest project in the world, it covers more than 13,000 acres and five villages.

This is part of the "Karnataka Solar Policy 2014-2021", which aims at reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and shifting to environmentally friendly to meet the growing energy needs of the state. The park communicates with the center circuit in order to generate 100 gigawatts (GW) of solar energy by 2020.
