- The Government of Uttar Pradesh has hiked old-age pension in the age group 60-79 years by Rs 100. Now the pensioners would receive Rs 500 per month from the existing Rs 400.
- This was approved in a Cabinet meeting headed by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath at Lucknow.
- In Jan 2019, the hike would be enforced and the Uttar Pradesh government will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 106.84 crore from Jan to March 2019.
- The newly hiked pension will benefit around 44,21,000 people in the Uttar Pradesh state.
