Farmers Protest Against Land Acquisition for Bullet Train


The bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream project. This project is being implemented in their home state only. Farmers of Surat district are protesting against land acquisition for the project by landing on the roads.

More than 200 farmers of 15 villages in the district reached by tractors and motorcycles in Surat district collectorate. They were protesting against the notification for land acquisition for the project. The protesting farmers handed over a memorandum to the district collector with their 14 objections.

Farmer leader Jayesh Patel told the reporters that about 140 hectares of land are being acquired in 21 villages for the project, which has been opposed by farmers. Jayesh Patel said that notification of land acquisition was issued without evaluating the environmental and social impact of inevitable.
