Senior BJP leader and finance minister Arun Jaitley (currently on leave for health benefits) in the Central Government have written two articles saying that the cheap petrol and diesel in the country is not in government's control.
According to the finance minister, in the current global situation, if the government reduces its revenue, it works to provide relief to the common man on petrol and diesel, then in front of him, a Congress government situation will arise where it will have to resort to loans from foreign banks for development works.
Jaitley said that during the last four years, during the tenure of the Modi government, there has been the improvement in the ratio of Central Government revenue and GDP. Where this average was 10 per cent during the tenure of the Congress Government, at 11.5 per cent in the Modi Government. According to Jaitley, the hike of half of the increase has been recorded from taxation on petrol and diesel.
