China has achieved success in planting several seismometers in the southwest part of the Indian Ocean. These seismometer can be used to detect earthquake measurements, volcanic eruptions or explosives use.
In the south-west Indian Ocean, China's earthquake research is seen with suspicion. Foreign media considers it a kind of military activity of China. But Research Fellow Ho Zhong of China's Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences said, "Every sovereign country has the right to do scientific research in international oceans."
Aasan bottom seismometer is applied on the surface of the ocean and it gives information about any kind of natural or artificial changes in the ocean. The term of a seismometer takes from a few months to several years.
