- India's second moon mission 'Chandrayaan-2' has been launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh.
- Chandrayaan-2 carrying an orbiter, lander and a rover in a stepped-up moon mission to uncover lunar secrets launched into space successfully.
- The objective of the Chandrayaan-2 mission is to studying mineralogy and chemical composition of lunar soil, to search for water or ice in the near-South Pole of the moon.
- Examining its atmosphere, studying lunar seismic activities and to carry out mapping of the moon using high-resolution cameras.
- The estimated cost of the Chandrayaan-2 mission is worked out to be Rs 978,00,00,000. It will be the first soft-landing by India, that is expected to be on 7th September 2019.
