- The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has announced the formation of 2 New Districts in the state, now the total number of districts to 35.
- Edappadi K Palaniswamy (CM) said that Tenkasi District would be carved out of Tirunelveli and another one Chengalpet District would be carved by splitting Kanchipuram district.
- Tamilnadu CM said Tirunelveli and Kanchipuram are vast in area and splitting them would be beneficial for better administration. He said that Special Officers would be appointed for the formation of the new districts.
