Govt declared 'Tamil Yeoman' as State Butterfly of Tamilnadu


  • The State Government of Tamilnadu has declared Tamil Yeoman (Cirrochroa Thais) as the State Butterfly of Tamilnadu.
  • Scientific Name: Cirrochroa thais, also known as Tamizh Maravan (which means warrior).
  • This butterfly species of nymphalid butterfly found in forested areas of tropical Sri-Lanka and India.
