- The Union government has announced 141-Padma Awards for the year 2020 on the occasion of 71st Republic Day, out of which 7-Padma Vibhushan, 16-Padma Bhusan, and 118-Padma Shri awards.
- In the above awards, 34 are women and 18-foreigners. 12-persons are awarded posthumously. Padma Awards is the fourth highest civilian award after Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan.
- These Awards are given in the field of Art, Social Work, Public Affairs, Science and Engineering, Trade and Industry, Medicine, Literature and Education, Sports, Civil Service, etc.
