- The Union Government led by PM Modi approved the appointment of Michael Patra as the 4th Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a period of 3-years.
- He replaced Viral Acharya, who had left his post on 23rd July 2019.
- Prior to taking up this assignment, M. Patra is working as the Executive-Director (ED) in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
- The Current Governor of RBI is Shaktikanta Das.
