The Committee of Forest Advisory approved the Green Credit Scheme

The Committee of Forest Advisory has approved the 'Green Credit Scheme' that will allow the forest to be traded as a commodity. Under this, the Forest Department is allowed to outsource to Non-government and Private agencies.
The Green Credit Scheme will also encourage plantation by individuals outside the traditional forest area. It allows agencies to identify land and begin growing plantations. It may be Private Companies or Village Forest Communities, etc.
Current, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is Prakash Javadekar.
