    - The day recognizes the launch of Operation Trident during the 1971 war (Indo-Pakistan). In this war, the Indian Navy sank 4 Pakistani vessels and killed around 500 Pakistani Navy personnel at Pakistan Naval Headquarters.

    - The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces, which was founded in 1612. Its headquarter is in New Delhi. The current Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) is Admiral Karambir Singh, PVSM, AVSM.
