- The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi renamed Rohtang tunnel in Himachal Pradesh to 'Atal Tunnel' to mark the 95th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- Rohtang tunnel is 8.8 km long, and It is the world's longest tunnel at an altitude of 3,000m.
- This tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to Lahaul and Spiti Valley and also reduce the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km.
