Scientists develop Low-cost & Eco-friendly Solar Cells using 'Kumkum and Vermilion Dye'

  • A team of Scientists at IIT Hyderabad has developed Low-cost and Eco-friendly Solar Cells by using kumkum and vermilion dye.
  • The newly developed 'Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell' is based on new fuchsin dye with aqueous Electrolyte and Platinum-free counter electrodes.
  • Nowadays, most of Solar Cells are made up of Silicon and can be seen in various places. But the processing of Silicon is very expensive.
  • Because of this reason, The Scientists of IIT Hyderabad started working on Solar Cells which is based on organic materials, and it is inexpensive and easy to fabricate.
