BIS will set up Pashmina Testing Center in Leh Region


  • The Director-General of BIS Ms. Surina Rajan said that Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will set up a Pashmina Testing Center in Leh region of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).
  • Ms. Surina Rajan said that setting up of a Pashmina Testing Center Lab in Leh region would take 2-months time. She also said the standards testing will have lab, machines, and scientists to check the quality of pashmina collected.
  • She also said the BIS would train the local's people, with the help of Leh Hill Council, in marking of the standards to save the time and money.
