- Each year on 21st April the Civil Service Day is celebrated across the nation by all Civil Services to re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to the cause of the people. Firstly, this day had observed on 21st April 2006 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

- On this occasion, all officers of Central and State Governments are honored for excellence in public administration. The 'Prime Minister Award for Excellence in Public Administration' is presented in three categories.
- These PM Award For Excellence includes a medal, scroll and a cash amount of Rs 1,00,000/-. In the case of a group, the total award money is Rs 5,00,000/- subject to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000/- per person. For an organization, the cash amount is limited to Rs 5,00,000/-.
