Satish Delivers India's Third Gold Medal in Commonwealth Games

Current champion weightlifter Satish Sivalingam (77 kg) gave India the third gold medal in 21st Commonwealth Games despite the pain in the thigh. Satish picked up 317 kg (144 kg +173 kg) and went so far from his rivals that he did not go for his last effort in clean and jerk.

Satish said after the medal distribution ceremony, "There was an injury in my thigh in an effort to lift 194 kg of clean and jerk in the national championship and I did not expect to win a medal here. It is a muscle problem. I was still not fully fit, but I am happy that I still succeeded in winning the gold medal.
