Deepak Won the Bronze, Lifting 258 kg Weight at the Age of 15, was Made a National Record


Indian weightlifters continue to perform in the Commonwealth Games. Deepak Lather won the bronze medal in the 69 kg category. Before him Gururaja Pujari Silver, while Saikhom Mirabai Chanu and Sanjita Chanu have won gold for the country. Deepak made a national record by lifting 258 kgs at the age of 15 years. Gareth Evans of Wales, Gold and Sri Lanka's Indica C. Dissanayake Mudiyanselage, named Silver.

Deepak weighed a total of 295 kg (136 in the snatch and 159 kg in clean and jerk). He raised 132 on the first try and 136 kg in the second in the snatch. After that 138kg was opted but fouled. In the first attempt in clean and jerk 155 kg and 159 kg in the second try. In the third attempt opted for 162kg.
