After China, India has become the second largest mobile producing country in the world. As per information shared with the Indian Cellular Association (ICA), Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha and Minister of Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad, India has left behind Vietnam in manufacturing handsets.
According to the I.C.A. statistics, the annual production of mobile phones in the country has increased from 3 million units in 2014 to 1.1 million units in 2017. India has turned out to be Vietnam's second-biggest mobile phone manufacturer in the world by 2017. With the increase in mobile phone production in the country, the import of these has also dropped from less than half in 2017-18.
