- Each year on 22nd May International Day for Biological Diversity is celebrated across the globe to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. This day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 29th December 1993.
- After-that, UN General Assembly in 2000 declared 22nd May as International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to commemorate the adoption of the Nairobi Final Act on the Biological Diversity Convention.
- The theme for the 2020 International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) is 'Our Solutions Are In Nature'.
