- The Health Minister of India Dr. Harsh Vardhan (age 65 years) has been elected as the new Chairman of the WHO Executive Board for a period of three years. He replaced Japanese Hiroki Nakatani.

The Executive Board of the WHO consists of 34 members qualified in the field of health, each one designated by a Member State elected to do so by the World Health Assembly. Member States are elected for 3-year terms. And, India is a member state of WHO’s Southeast Asia Region.
