V. Vidyavathi - New Director-General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)


  • The Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has appointed the V. Vidyavathi as the New Director-General (DG) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). She is an IAS officer of the 1991 batch of Karnataka cadre. She will also be serving in the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

    The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is an Indian government agency that was founded in 1861 by Alexander Cunningham, who was the first Director-General of ASI. ASI is responsible for archaeological research and the conservation and preservation of cultural monuments in the country.
